Early Life

Kapil Sharma was born in 1981 in Amritsar, India. His father was a head constable in the Punjab Police, and his mother worked as a homemaker.
He grew up with an elder brother, Ashok Kumar Sharma. Kapil was an average school student but was greatly interested in theatre and comedy.
He participated in several plays and shows at his school, college, and local theatre groups. After completing his schooling, he enrolled himself in the Apeejay Institute of Management to study Business Administration and Human Resource Development.
While studying there, he also did a course in advertising and marketing from the Indian Institute of Management.
Kapil’s comic timing and jokes made him popular among the students, and he soon became the campus star. He also did several shows in Delhi, Chandigarh, and Shimla during this time.
