Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s-Duke and Duchess’s docuseries have become a headline just as it was claimed that the upcoming Netflix project had been postponed due to Queen Elizabeth II’s death. Reports stated that it was being delayed till 2023. However, it seems only speculation.
Another claim has come on the show’s premiere by a Deadline report that the docuseries had been pushed to 2023 following the recent backlash faced by The Crown Season 5. It was also reported by Deadline that the cause of the delay was being considered to be the recent criticism over the upcoming season of Netflix hit The Crown, which will chronicle Princess Diana and King Charles’ separation.
Although a Page Six source has reported that despite gossip of deferment, Harry and Meghan’s show may debut in early December this year, nearly a month after the new season of The Crown knocked the stage.
The Sussexes who have been planning for a film for more than a year with Brooklyn director Liz Garbus — are thinking of addressing on camera the royal family, including Prince William and Kate Middleton, as well as King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla, and reportedly wanted to edit some of it out.
So Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have decided to cease the Duke and Duchess’s docuseries soon as it takes weeks for Netflix to edit and translate for other languages too. However, Netflix’s source told page six, “Netflix needs a couple of months to do all of the formatting and dubbing, subtitling and audio — all of that stuff that enables it to launch on the platform.”
The Crown Season 5 & Duke and Duchess’s documentary Controversy
According to the CNN report, The 5th season of The Crown, which is scheduled to make public on November 9, was just smashed by former British Prime Minister John Major, who called its illustration of his time in office as “damaging and malicious fiction” and a “barrel-load of nonsense.” Major’s statement came as a reaction to rumors about one plotline of the new season that reportedly sees King Charles III – then the Prince of Wales – indicating that he wanted Major’s support for his mother’s abandonment.
Documentary Releasing Rumors
As for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, a concerned Page Six source illustrates that the show’s release date puzzlement had nothing to do with The Crown Season and it will be “going ahead later this year.” Earlier reports also hinted that there were issues between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Netflix as they wanted to delete any incriminating comments they had made about King Charles III, Queen Consort Camilla Parker-Bowles, Prince William and Kate Middleton in the show that made the reasons of rescheduling it.
Meanwhile, there’s a probability that Prince Harry and Prince William will be reuniting again in December this year after the Queen’s funeral as the last will be heading to the US with Kate Middleton for the Earth shot Prize event. Reports have also revealed that the Princess of Wales plans to extend an olive branch to Markle to unify the brothers amid their crack.
